ATLE Poll: The Alliance wouldn’t resist anymore

If there were elections next Sunday, 41.2% of the Romanians voting would pick the D.A. Alliance, according to a poll made by the Association for Transparency and Freedom of Speech (ATLE) between the 19th and 23rd of October. There were 1065 responders from 40 counties as well as from Bucharest. The poll has an error margin of +/- 3%. 24.9% of the responders would vote for SDP (the Social Democratic Party), 11.7% with GRP (the Great Romania Party), 6.2% with NGP (the New Generation Party), 5.1% with DUHR (the Democrat Union of the Hungarians in Romania), 3.2% with CP (the Conservatory Party), and the rest with other parties. 30% of the responders are undecided or wouldn’t vote. In the case in which NLP (the National Liberal Party) and DP (the Democratic Party) would take part in the elections separately, they would pick DP, 53.5%, NLP 42.9%, and 3.6% would pick another party. 39.3% of the responders consider the D.A. Alliance wouldn’t remain in the present formation until the next elections, 32.2% of them think the Alliance will make it, and 28.5% didn’t answer or don’t know. The result of the valid answers says that 55% of the responders think the Alliance wouldn’t survive in the present formation. If they were to pick from NLP and a liberal party initiated by Stolojan, 28.2% would choose NLP, and 23.3% would choose the party of Stolojan. The rest of them didn’t answer and 54.7% of the total valid answers say they would go for NLP.

OPTIONS. 20.5% of the responders want a NLP-DP Alliance after the 1st of January 2007, 16.2% of them want one between SDP and DP, 10.3% are pleased with the present Parliamentary majority, 10.2% of them want a SDP-NLP Alliance, 6.3% want a SDP-GRP one, 5.9% want a DP-GRP one. 37% of the responders said the before-term elections are not necessary, 19% believe the end of this year would be the best time for the before-term elections, 26% of them would go for the spring of 2007 and 18% of them would prefer the end of 2007. The poll was ordered by the Institute for Innovation and Development Projects.
