Endangered, Yet New Specie

One’s mind and life are on "fast forward" these days. We don’t get to live anything. The "Robot"-man in the scientific researches, "the robot men" in the children’s cartoons have appeared much sooner than the most optimistic of all the optimistic people had ever imagined.

One’s mind and life are on "fast forward" these days. We don’t get to live anything. The "Robot"-man in the scientific researches, "the robot men" in the children’s cartoons have appeared much sooner than the most optimistic of all the optimistic people had ever imagined. Just look at us, look at the way we are on a time trial at work, at the way we love the time trial, at the way we hate the time trial, at our time-trial lives. In the same time, we are the first exponents of the information technology as well as its victims. We wake up with the telephone headphones in our years, we brush our teeth while listening to the messages we had received during night time, and we serve the "missed calls" instead of the morning coffee. During breakfast, we read the last received messages in order to be able to call the ones we hadn’t talked to because we were talking to other people. If, in the meantime, a good friend of ours thought of offering us an i-pod for our birthday, we would end up by mixing up the two pairs of headphones in such a way that we would be talking to Shakira and listening to the best colleague. We are grown-up children, we work on all kinds of local or national strategies. We live a permanent time trial, we live on "fast-forward" and we don’t even have time for a look out the window. We could see the mountains out there, but we don’t care, because we don’t see or feel anything anymore. We form an endangered specie, but, in the same time, we form a new specie.

Feelings have been replaced by e-mails, emotions have been replaced by blogs, our dreams are full of pixels, we dream on the messenger and we eat clots of printed-paper. We live on "fast-forward", and we feel emptier and emptier, as the only thing that made us different from the other species, our soul, is disappearing. What a life…
