  • INTEGRATED IN INTERPOL. Frenetically searched in Romania, Guru Bivolaru was hiding among the Yogis in Sweden.
Now, the Romanian authorities have to start the proceedings for the extradition, which might take a while depending on the judicial procedures of Sweden. The Frontier Police has started an investigation to figure out the way in which Gregorian Bivolaru left Romania.

The MIAS (Movement for the Integration into Absolute Spirit) leader, Gregorian Bivolaru, having the proceedings taken against him in Romania and abroad, has been temporarily arrested by the Swedish judicial authorities on Monday. On the 31st of March, the Sector 5 Law Court emitted a preventive warrant against Bivolaru under the accusation of sexual intercourse with a minor.

    SUPERVISION

Sources inside the police stated for us that Gregorian Bivolaru is for sure in the hands of the Swedish authorities, because, in this country, there are a lot of Yogi groups very related to MIAS. The Swedish Yogis have taken part in the meetings of the MIAS organization that took place while Bivolaru was carried by the special troops from the Court to the Appeal Court.

    ACCUSATIONS AND SEARCHES

Gregorian Bivolaru is accused of the fact that, using his status of Yoga teacher and encroaching upon his influence, he repeatedly had sexual intercourse with minor Madalina Dumitru between 2002 and March 2004. The warrant has been sent for execution to the General Police Direction of Bucharest - the Tracking Department. Interpol emitted appeals for support to 16 countries in which 22 MIAS subsidiaries exist. The result came on Monday. Interpol Sweden has announced that Gregorian Bivolaru had been arrested in Malmo - Sweden, to be extradited in Romania. Yesterday, the National Interpol Bureau has asked for the start of the extradition proceedings from the Ministry of Justice. After an initial checking of the situation the Sector 5 Law Court will propose to the Bucharest Appeal Court to compose the extradition request and will also forward the documents requested by the Romanian laws and by the European Extradition Convention settled in Paris on the 13th of December 1957.

In case that the Bucharest Appeal Court composes an extradition request regarding Bivolaru Gregorian, the Justice Ministry will take care that the terms in the European Extradition Convention are respected.

    MIAS DOESN’T COMMENT

Yesterday, the MIAS representatives stated they didn’t know anything about Bivolaru being in Sweden. The MIAS president, Nicolae Catrina, said she tried to contact her counterparts in Sweden to ask for more details about Bivolaru’s arrest.

"The ones in Sweden don’t answer their phones, so, until I get to talk to them, I cannot take an official position", Catrina said. On the phone, Gregorian Bivolaru’s lawyer, Dan Apostol, said he was abroad, "but not in Sweden", and he cannot comment on something he doesn’t know anything about.

    INVESTIGATION AT THE FRONTIER

Police Subinspector Fabian Badila, Frontier Police General Inspectorate spokesperson, has stated that an investigation team has been initiated. Its purpose is to investigate the way in which Gregorian Bivolaru managed to leave Romania. This is not the first time when the security of the Romanian frontiers is doubted.

    HISTORY

Gregorian Bivolaru has been arrested in March 2004, when he was supposed to have tries to illegally leave the country by crossing the frontier with Hungary through the customs in Nadlac. Then, Farkas Zsolt seemed to have chaperoned him. Based on a procedure vice, Bivolaru has been freed on the 1st of April 2004. Since then, hoping to find Bivolaru, the authorities have made more than 600 searches at MIAS ashrams.

In August 2004, Bivolaru has been prosecuted for sexual intercourse with a minor, sexual perversion, traffic with minors and attempt of illegal frontier crossing. The Lawsuit had been moved to the Law Court in Sibiu. In the same time, the prosecutors have prosecuted Mirona Farcas (for sexual corruption) and Farkas Zsolt (for traffic with immigrants). In January 2005, the investigators have started to take proceedings against Bivolaru, Diana Dochinoiu (administrator of Extaz Ltd. Commercial Company) and Adriana Neagu (economy director) for tax dodging and traffic with human beings.
