PSD Starts Campaign In Wake Of No-Confidence Vote

de Lavinia Dimancea    |    24 Iun 2006   •   00:00

The Social-Democrat Party, or PSD, in opposition, started Friday a full-scale offensive against the center-right Government, in the wake of a Parliament vote Wednesday on the no-confidence motion it filed. The PSD attack was timed to take the media by storm, with press conferences in Bucharest, at 1 p.m.; in all county subsidiaries, at 2 p.m., and with all party members handing out leaflets in the street, at 3 p.m. Friday.

"Deeds and lies of the orange alliance of liberals and democrats" is the title of the PSD manifesto, issued exactly after 500 days since the four-party alliance took office.

Mircea Geoana, the PSD president, set the tone. "The Alliance must go," said he. "The Alliance should vanish," and "we should head again for the polls," added he.

"The PSD is forced into an all-out war. What is wrongly built on lies and incompetence cannot be made right. It must be brought down to the ground," said Geoana.
